Hey stranger
I haven't met him yet, but an image has formed:
Eyes betray
the wisdom and irreverance
of mother and father
A smile lights the house
and forces shadows
from the corners of the room
Welcome laughter rings
to fill the empty hallway
and silence is gone.
Let's celebrate, baby!
Eyes betray
the wisdom and irreverance
of mother and father
A smile lights the house
and forces shadows
from the corners of the room
Welcome laughter rings
to fill the empty hallway
and silence is gone.
Let's celebrate, baby!

Sean, being hormonal is hard enough without you giving me actual reasons to cry. I'm printing this and framing it for his room. Wait until you you see him.....The silence is all gone. Forever. It's got to be a lot of pressure on a little guy to bear the full-on brunt of two adults' hopes, dreams, and ferocious love (good band name)....I hope this poem helps him understand how he makes us feel. You've captured it beautifully, and you haven't even met him! Thank, Sean.
